I was in a taxi on Park Ave. in NYC.
A city bus almost broadsided us but the taxi driver swerved, and we ended up hitting one of the islands, with a metal fence, in the middle of Park Ave. The paramedics arrived, I told them I was American but I lived in Canada. They right away said, "if you can avoid going to a hospital here, just get on your plane," oh, I was on my way to the airport. "Go to a doctor there, you will get faster and better care." They were so right. I went to a CLSC, it is a public clinic that you can walk in anytime. She organised a cat scan, a plastic surgeon, a eye specialist and an orthopedic surgeon all within one day. Everything was done at the Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Quebec. Because I could not work, the doctor at the CLSC also gave me the papers to file so that I recieved 75% of my salary while I was debilitated. They were incredible. I also received physio for 6 months. I paid nothing for all these services. I have lived in Canada for 35 years. My doctor will come to my house if I ask. I have never waited for any treatment. All my U.S. family want to move here because of the care they have witnessed with there own eyes.
The propaganda that the Republican machine has been spewing is outrageous.
