Write or Call the US Congress

Write Your Members of Congress and urge them to back health care for all Americans by supporting the President's 3 Principles on Health Insurance Reform.

You can also call your state's member of Congress using a handy script designed to help you get your point across. You can see others who have called in real time on the right hand side of your screen!

  • Reduce Costs - Rising health care costs are crushing the budgets of governments, businesses, individuals and families and they must be brought under control
  • Guarantee Choice - Every American must have the freedom to choose their plan and doctor - including the choice of a public insurance option
  • Ensure Quality Care for All - All Americans must have quality and affordable health care

The White House released this week a website where you can find out the truth about Health Insurance Reform:  WhiteHouse.gov/RealityCheck

Make your voice heard in Congress today. Here is a sample letter below you can use to send to your member of Congress.

Today's Date

To Your Senator:

The Honorable (full name)
(Room #) (Name) Senate Office Building
United States Senate
Washington, DC 20510

To Your Representative:
The Honorable (full name)
(Room #) (Name) House Office Building
United States House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Member of Congress:

There has been an overwhelming amount of misinformation and outright propaganda being put out to block health care reform and the choice of a public option.

I am a U. S. citizen living in Canada, and I vote in your district (or State in the case of a Senator).

I am writing you in support of President Obama’s three principles for health care reform:

  • Reduce Costs - Rising health care costs are crushing the budgets of governments, businesses, individuals and families and they must be brought under control
  • Guarantee Choice - Every American must have the freedom to choose their plan and doctor - including the choice of a public insurance option
  • Ensure Quality Care for All - All Americans must have quality and affordable health care

(You might go on to add a brief summary of your own experience with the American health care system that supports your call for reform.  Tell your story in 100 words or less).

I am asking you now to vote for true health care reform that will help all Americans.  The status quo is not acceptable.  It is time to do the right thing.

Sincerely yours,

<Your Name and Signature>
